French duo Air will celebrate the 25th anniversary of their debut album ‘Moon Safari’ at Sónar 2024. The event will take place in Barcelona on Friday, June 14th. Air will perform the entire album on Sónar by Night’s main stage.
After a seven-year break, Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel will make their return to the stage, providing a rare opportunity to witness the iconic record performed live. Released in 1998, ‘Moon Safari’ remains a beloved classic and a tribute to the golden era of French electronic music. The album combines downtempo beats with the rich heritage of chanson française, creating a captivating atmosphere of love and mystery. Tracks like ‘Sexy Boy,’ ‘All I Need,’ and ‘La Femme d’Argent’ became widely recognized during the late ’90s, propelling Air to fame.
Air’s performance at Sónar 2024 marks their comeback to the festival after their previous live set in 2010. Their show will be one of over 100 other performances and activities at Sónar 2024, where they will join an already impressive lineup that includes Jessie Ware, Kaytranada, Ben Böhmer Live, Vince Staples, Folamour, The Martinez Brothers, Kerri Chandler, Charlotte de Witte presents ‘Overdrive,’ Floating Points, and Olof Dreijer. The complete lineup for Sónar 2024 will be announced in the coming weeks.
