Amsterdam opens new cultural hub, Tilla Tec, in former De School building

With a focus on promoting diversity and inclusivity.

Amsterdam is all set for the grand opening of its new cultural hotspot, Tilla Tec, housed in the building that once was De School. This venue will host an array of events, from live performances and workshops to a restaurant for food lovers.

Lola Edo and Samuel King are leading the charge on this project. The grand opening is planned for April 12th, 2024 with a takeover set for April 1st. The team, featuring Jamillia Barry overseeing partnerships and programs, and Passion Dzenga steering the marketing efforts, are devoted to revitalizing the space with thoughtful renovations.

Tilla Tec will not only be a tenant but also the manager of the entire complex. The complex has been unoccupied since De School shut its doors in January.

From April, Tilla Tec will open its doors to diverse businesses. Offering leases to a queer tattoo parlour, a queer gym, and a coffee roasting company among others. The launch program is in the final stages of planning and is set to spotlight queer and BIPOC talents, underlining Tilla Tec’s focus on promoting diversity and inclusivity.
