Brighton’s 1BTN radio amplifies inclusion with International Women’s Day takeover


The event aims to amplify the voices of women, trans women, and non-binary individuals in the radio industry

Brighton & Hove’s non-profit radio station, 1BTN, is gearing up to host its sixth annual International Women’s Day Takeover on March 8th, 2024.

This broadcast is poised to be their most extensive yet, featuring a lineup of 40 presenters, DJs, and artists from the station. Over 36 hours of programming will be devoted to celebrating and amplifying the voices of women, trans women, and non-binary individuals in the radio industry.

Participants in the 1BTN IWD Takeover include Alex Cella, Anya Lux, Amy Douglas, Sharna Waid, I Am Fya, Babylon Fox, BBG with Shields & KD Mars, Daizy Dangerz, Bangers For Breakfast, Coco Varda, DJ Emma, Love Is The Message with Hannah Sherlock & Kathy Ellis, Jayne Winstanley, Jenny Jen, Faro, Katie Novo, Katie PPU Byrnes, Laroie, DJ Amazon, Chicha Morada, Lil Minx, Luchia, Lucid Body Talk, Martha Cleary’s Underlying Oddities, Molly Pop, Nikki Lucas, Rachel Gavin, Renata, Rosie Turton, Sarah Sweeney, Silkee, Sophie Lloyd, Ellie Talebian, Taman, Tara Elle, The Record Caddy, and Wildblood and Queenie.

In addition to showcasing diverse voices, the event will serve as a fundraiser for 1BTN radio and RISE, a Sussex-based charity that supports victims of domestic violence and abuse. Donations can be made here.
