Francesco Tristano returned to Riga and delighted the audience with his live electronic performance. This was the pianist’s first live set in the city after a 26-year gap since his time as a student at the Jāzeps Vitols Music Academy.

To commemorate this return, filmmaker Viktors Buda directed a short film titled ‘Francesco Tristano – My Riga Connection.’ The film provides a glimpse into the hidden depths of Tristano’s profound connection to Riga, further enriching the narrative.

Reflecting on his emotional return, Tristano shared his thoughts, stating, “Last summer, after 26 years, I had the opportunity to combine piano and electronics in a live performance upon my return to Riga. This experience held special significance for me, as I have a deep connection to this city.”

Born in Luxembourg in 1981, Tristano has a strong background in classical and electronic music. He studied at the Juilliard School of Music in New York and spent a transformative year in Riga in 1997, honing his skills at the Jāzeps Vītols Music Academy of Latvia with teacher Teofils Biķs. Tristano considers this time in Riga as a pivotal moment that influenced his successful career as a pianist and musician.
